Held up to the light the mesh shows two yarn directions crossing at a close pitch, which is what breaks the view up without stopping the air. The grommets sit in a bound edge rather than being punched straight through the weave, so the net can be tied hard to a rail or a post and taken down and put back the next season without the fixing points tearing out.
