Wall thickness is the specification that decides how a container behaves over a season rather than on the day it is filled. A 0.6 mm wall is light, economical to move and easy to form on site, and it suits a single season or a nursery that ships flat and forms the container as it is used. A 1.0 mm wall holds a circle without buckling when the pot is lifted full, survives being dragged across a yard, and will come back for a second season. Between those two there are 0.7 and 0.8 mm, which is where most orders land. UV resistance sits alongside thickness, because a thinner wall outdoors needs protection more than a thick one does.

Product Description

Two containers can look identical on a bench and behave completely differently by the end of a season, and the difference is almost always wall thickness. It is the one specification worth pinning down before the price, because it decides whether the pot can be lifted full, whether it survives a second year, and whether the buyer is paying for material they do not need.

Wall Thickness: 0.6 to 1.0 mm

At 0.6 mm the container is light and forms easily, which is what suits a nursery that ships flat and forms each pot as it is used, or that treats the container as a single-season item. At 1.0 mm the wall holds its section under a full load of wet medium and takes the handling that comes with moving pots on and off a trolley through a season, so it can be reused. Where the container is stacked or dragged rather than carried, the heavier wall is usually the better value once the second season is counted. The 0.7 and 0.8 mm walls sit between the two and cover most orders. Whatever the thickness, the perforated wall pattern is the same, so the air pruning function does not depend on which one is chosen. The same range logic applies across the root control container range, and for growers working across several crops it sits alongside the shade net and planting bag ranges.

Black, White or Black and White

The colour choice is usually made for temperature rather than appearance. Black absorbs heat, which is an advantage where the crop wants a warm root zone and a disadvantage on a hot bench in full sun, because the medium can run several degrees warmer than ambient. White reflects, keeping the root zone cooler through the middle of the day, and it also looks clean in a retail or display setting. Where a nursery wants both, black and white is supplied as a combination so the outer face reads white while the root zone keeps the warmer surface. Whichever is chosen, UV resistance is specified in the material so the container does not chalk and crack when it stands outdoors.

Indoor Benches and Outdoor Rows

Indoors the container suits greenhouse benches and hydroponic media work, where the perforated wall also helps the medium drain between irrigation cycles rather than holding a saturated layer. Outdoors it stands on gravel or a membrane without a raised tray and is used for tree stock, hedging and vegetable growing through a season. Because the wall vents rather than seals, a pot standing in full sun does not build the heat and humidity a solid container does, which is the practical reason the same container works in both positions without changing specification.

Custom Sizes and Order Detail

Containers are made to client requirement rather than supplied from a fixed list, so diameter, height and wall thickness are agreed against the crop and the handling rather than picked from a catalogue. Minimum order is 2000 square metres with an FOB range of USD 0.6 to 2.5 per square metre, samples are available, and delivery runs about 15 days after deposit. Payment is accepted by L/C, T/T, Western Union, Paypal or Money Gram. Trade coverage of how nurseries handle container stock, such as HortiDaily and FreshPlaza, is worth following if you are specifying for more than one crop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which wall thickness should I order?
0.6 mm for a single season or where containers are formed on site, 1.0 mm where pots are lifted full and reused, and 0.7 or 0.8 mm for most working nurseries.

Does black or white make a difference to the plant?
It changes root zone temperature. Black warms and white reflects, so the choice follows the crop and the exposure rather than appearance.

Can the container be used outdoors all season?
Yes. The material is UV resistant and the base drains on its own, so it can stand on gravel or a membrane without a tray. Tell us the crop and the standing period and we will confirm the thickness.

Tell us the container size, the wall thickness and the colour, plus how the pots will be handled, and we will confirm the specification and the packing that suit your order.
