Heavy-Duty Root Pruning Container with Air Pruning Technology for Commercial Growing

Product Attributes :

Air pruning is a technology rather than a marketing line: when a root tip meets the wall, it dries, stops, and the plant answers with branched roots instead of a circling ball. This container pairs that wall with a heavy-duty build, so the technology keeps working through lifting, transport and replanting. Heights run 10 to 100 cm and diameters to 200 cm, covering hedge lines, fruit stock and tree transplanting, indoors or out. The panels and base system means damaged units are rebuilt from parts rather than replaced whole. Growers run them season after season, and samples let a programme test the build before committing.

Product Description

Air pruning is the technology that separates this container from an ordinary round planter, and the heavy-duty build is what keeps that technology working through a commercial workload. Roots meet the slotted wall, stop, and branch. The pot survives lifting, transport and replanting, so the next crop starts on the same footing as the last.

Heavy-duty, beyond the thickness figure

Heavy-duty is not one number on a spec sheet: it is wall, base plate, fixings and finish working together. Walls run 0.6 to 1.5 mm in this range, stiff enough to hold their shape when a full pot is lifted by the rim, and the base system carries wet growing medium without sagging. Fixings hold the panel to the base through cycles of assembly and storage, and the finish takes handling without chalking. That combination is what a commercial programme actually buys: a container still in service next season, not one that survives a single crop.

What air pruning technology does underground

Under the surface the mechanism is simple and physical. A root tip that reaches the slotted wall meets air, dries at the tip, and stops growing in that direction. The plant answers by pushing new roots deeper into the medium and branching outward, so the finished root ball is dense and fibrous rather than a coiled knot. In a conventional pot the opposite happens: roots circle the wall, tangle, and set the plant back at transplant. The same wall runs across the air pruning pot range, from propagation rounds to tree containers.

From hedge lines to tree transplanting

The height range is what makes one container family cover a whole site: 10 cm units for starting stock, mid sizes for shrubs and hedge lines, and 100 cm units for tree stock that stays in the pot up to sale. Diameters go to 200 cm, and both dimensions can be adjusted to order. Rows run outdoors through establishment and indoors on benches, and the root ball stays together through every move. For heavier tree work at the top end, the tree and nursery container range covers those sizes in detail.

Ordering for commercial programmes

Programmes are quoted by size, height and volume, with panels nested for freight and storage. Custom diameters and heights run alongside the standard range, and samples let a team test the wall against its own watering and lifting routine before a full order. For soft-wall containers in the same programme, the planting bag alternative covers flexible growing. Trade coverage of growing practice runs at HortiDaily and FreshPlaza.

Frequently asked questions

What makes the container heavy-duty?
It is the combination: 0.6 to 1.5 mm walls, a base system that carries wet medium without sagging, and fixings that hold through assembly, lifting and storage cycles, season after season.

How does the air pruning wall actually work?
Root tips dry out when they reach the openings and stop extending, so the plant branches new roots back into the medium instead of coiling around the wall.

Which sizes can I order?
Standard heights run 10 to 100 cm with diameters to 200 cm, and both can be cut to order, so a programme can stretch from starter stock to large tree containers without changing systems.
