When a bale is opened the net has to come off cleanly, and that is a smaller detail than it sounds. Fibre left on the forage goes through the mixer wagon and ends up in the feed, and a dairy buyer notices it in the ration. A net that releases in one piece at the cut also opens the bale faster, which matters when a mixer is being loaded against the clock. The rest of the specification is about holding the bale: the yarn is UV stabilised polyethylene knitted into a tight sleeve, so it keeps its shape on the baler and on the bale through outdoor storage instead of relaxing and letting the edge open.

Product Description

Net wrap is bought on price per roll, but the complaint that comes back from a dairy farm is usually not about price. It is about what happens when the bale is opened, and how much of the net comes off with the forage.

Clean Release, and Why Feed Buyers Ask for It

The net is designed to release in one piece when the bale is cut open, without leaving fibre behind on the forage. That matters on a dairy or a feedlot for two reasons. Fibre left on the bale goes into the mixer wagon and then into the ration, which is a contamination issue rather than a cosmetic one; and a net that comes off cleanly opens the bale faster, which matters when a mixer is being loaded against a feeding schedule. On a silage bale the same property applies at the other end of the process, because the net is under the film and has to come away without tearing the wrap into strips that then have to be picked out of the pit.

Round Hay, Straw and Silage Storage

The net is used on round hay, straw and silage bales for outdoor storage and for handling before feeding or transport. Widths and roll lengths are made to order rather than held to a fixed list, which is what allows the same supplier to cover the round and square baler models used across North America, Europe, Japan and Australia. More on how netting fits into a bale handling setup is covered under bale net wrap, alongside the shade net and planting bag ranges that go to the same farms.

UV Inhibitor and a Tight Sleeve

The yarn carries a UV inhibitor, which is what stops the net going brittle at the folds on a bale left in the sun through a summer; a net without it fails first at the edge of the bale, which is exactly where the weather gets in. The other half of the specification is the knit: the mesh is made as a tight sleeve rather than a loose mesh, so it holds its shape on the baler through the wrapping cycle and keeps its tension on the bale afterwards instead of relaxing once it is wrapped. Between them, those two properties are what make outdoor storage of round bales practical without the bale losing its shape in the stack.

Sizes, Packing and Order Detail

Widths run from 1 m to 1.7 m and roll lengths from 2000 m to 3000 m, all made to order, so a non-standard width for a specific baler is not a problem. Rolls are packed on cardboard tubes, 12 or 16 to a pallet, and a 20 ft container takes around 190 to 210 rolls against 490 to 510 in a 40 ft high cube. Production capacity is 500 tons a month, the HS code is 5608 19 00 90, and FOB pricing steps down by quantity. Tell us the baler, the width, the crop and the annual volume, and we will confirm the specification and the price band. Buyers tracking what is going into hay, straw and silage operations can follow trade coverage such as HortiDaily and FreshPlaza for what growers are installing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the net leave fibre on the forage?
It is designed to come away cleanly when the bale is opened, which matters where the bale goes into a mixer wagon and the feed has to be clean. Tell us the crop and the bale size.

Will it hold a bale stored outdoors?
The yarn carries a UV inhibitor and the knit is a tight sleeve, so the net holds its tension through a season in the sun rather than going brittle at the folds. Tell us the storage period.

Can I order a non-standard width?
Widths and roll lengths are made to order rather than held to a fixed list, which is how the same net covers the baler models used across several markets. Tell us the baler make and the width.

Tell us the baler, the width, the crop and the annual volume, and whether the bales are stored outdoors, and we will confirm the specification, the sample and the packing that suit your order.
