A tree that spends two seasons in a container is judged on what the root ball looks like when it comes out. This bag is built for that stage of the trade rather than for a patio. The non-woven wall passes air, so roots meet it and branch rather than spiralling, and surplus water leaves instead of pooling at the base of a heavy pot. The range runs from a 5 gallon shrub liner up to 100 gallon field stock, with stitched handles sized to the load.
A tree that spends two seasons in a container is judged on what the root ball looks like when it finally comes out. That is the stage of the trade this bag is built for, rather than the patio.

The non-woven wall passes air, so roots that reach it stop and branch instead of running round the inside of the container. Over two seasons that is the difference between a root ball that holds together at planting out and one that has to be teased apart with a knife. The same wall drains, which matters more here than in a small pot: at 50 or 100 gallon a waterlogged base is a large volume of compost going sour. Handles are stitched through the wall and sized to the load the format carries.

The ladder runs 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50 and 100 gallon, which covers a shrub liner at one end and field stock at the other, all from the same wall. Nurseries use them in rows on slabs or on open ground, where the bag can be lifted and moved rather than the tree being dug. Green and black are standard, and customised logo printing is available on programme quantities. The wall system is shared across the air pruning pot range.

At the top of the ladder the bag and its compost are moved by machine or by two people, so the handles are stitched through the wall in proportion to the load and the felt round them is heavy enough not to stretch. The base is finished flat and stitched so a large bag sits level on a slab, and the rim is turned to stop the felt fraying through repeated lifting. Tree formats sit alongside the tree and nursery container range.

Tell us which formats, colours and printing your programme runs, since the ladder is built to order and a logo can be added on programme quantities. Orders ship in bags, on pallets or in cartons, and the flat bag stores in a fraction of the space a stack of rigid containers takes. The wider soft container range sits in the planting bag range. Container and growing media supply is covered at HortiDaily and FreshPlaza.
How long can a tree stay in the bag?
Two seasons is the normal span before planting out, which is long enough for the air pruned root ball to develop into something that holds together.
Can the bags be printed with our logo?
Yes. Logo printing is available on programme quantities, alongside the standard black and green felt.
How are bulk orders packed?
In bags, on pallets or in cartons, with mixed sizes combined in one load.

Tell us the formats, colours and quantities your programme needs, and we will come back with the packing plan, sample and lead time.
