Filling a soft bag alone is awkward: the wall collapses inward, compost goes over the rim, and the shape is wrong before the plant is even in. This one folds over at the top so the bag holds itself open while it is filled, which is the difference between one person doing the job and two. The body is square, so a bench row covers its footprint, and the four corners are reinforced because that is where a square bag carries its load. It suits seedlings stepped up into a bigger format and potatoes grown on a patio.

Product Description

Filling a soft bag on your own is awkward. The wall folds inward as soon as compost lands on it, the rim drops, and the load goes over the side. It is a small thing that decides whether one person can do the job.

A rim that holds the bag open

The top edge folds over and stays there, so the mouth of the bag stays open under its own weight while it is filled and the compost goes in the bag instead of down the side. Once full, the same rim keeps the shape square, which is what makes a row of them sit flush rather than splaying. Four corner panels are reinforced, because a square bag carries its load where the walls meet, and the felt breathes and drains so compost does not sit waterlogged around the roots.

Bench rows, balconies and potato crops

Seedlings stepped up from a tray into a bigger format are the main use, with potatoes, cucumbers and spinach run in the same wall on patios and in nursery rows. The flat base keeps the bag standing square on a bench or paving while it is filled, and stitched handles take the weight when a full bag is moved. Square walls let pots be pushed together for transport without wedging. The wall system is shared across the air pruning pot range.

Corners, handles and lifting

The corner panels are doubled and stitched rather than left as a single layer, and the handles are stitched through the wall on the same principle, so a full bag can be lifted without the anchor pulling out of the felt. The fold-over rim is turned on a double seam so it keeps its shape through a season of filling and emptying, and the flat base stops the bag rocking while it is loaded. Starter trays and smaller pots sit alongside in the seedling and propagation range.

Sizes, Packing and Order Detail

Tell us the square dimensions, volumes and colours your programme works to, since the body is built to order and trim colours can be matched to a swatch. Orders ship in bags, on pallets or in cartons, and the flat bag stores in a fraction of the space a stack of rigid pots takes. The wider soft container range sits in the planting bag range. Container and growing media supply is covered at HortiDaily and FreshPlaza.

Frequently asked questions

Can one person fill the bag?
Yes. The fold-over rim holds the mouth open on its own, so the compost goes in without a second pair of hands holding the bag.

Does the bag keep its square shape when full?
The rim holds the top square and the corner panels carry the load, so a row of them sits flush rather than splaying out.

How are bulk orders packed?
In bags, on pallets or in cartons, with mixed sizes and colours combined in one load.
