When a bale is heavier, moved further or left in daylight longer than the rest, the net carrying it is the part that fails first, and that is the job this roll is built for. It is 100 per cent new HDPE, Raschel warp knitted rather than woven, so the mesh is one continuous structure with no loose ends to pull out at the edge. Two weights cover the range: 8.33 gsm for standard hay bales and 10 gsm where the bale is dense and the wrap has to hold under drag. UV resistance is built into the yarn, so the roll can sit on the baler through a working season.

Product Description

A bale that is wet, dense or moved by grab several times before it reaches the stack puts far more strain on the net than a bale that is wrapped and left where it falls. Heavy duty is not a thicker film wrapped around the same idea, it is a different knitting structure and a different yarn, and it shows up in what the roll can survive rather than in what it looks like.

What Heavy Duty Actually Changes on the Baler

The net is 100 per cent new HDPE in two weights. The 8.33 gsm roll holds 35 to 43 N of tension and covers standard dry hay bales, where the wrap only has to keep the surface closed until the bale is moved. The 10 gsm roll holds 43 to 55 N and is the roll that goes on when the bale is heavy, dense or handled hard, because tension is what stops the wrap from working loose under drag. Both weights share the same open mesh, which is what lets rain run off the bale instead of pooling in the valleys between twine, and keeps the wrap sitting flat so silage film lifts away with it as one unit at feed out.

Why Raschel Knitting Holds Where Woven Net Does Not

Raschel warp knitting builds the mesh as one continuous interlocked structure, so there is no weft to slide and no cut edge to unravel when the roll is trimmed to width on the baler. Under load the whole sheet takes the strain together rather than relying on crossing points, which is why the same weight of knitted net holds a heavier bale than a loosely woven one. The mesh is also dimensionally stable, so a 1.62 m roll stays 1.62 m across the full length instead of drifting wider or narrower as the roll unwinds. For buyers running several bale sizes off one machine, the bale net wrap range sits alongside the shade net and planting bag ranges that go to the same farms.

Sizing First: Read the Baler, Then Pick the Weight

Most buyers start with the weight and then discover the roll will not fit the machine, so the order is worth reversing. The baler fixes the width and the length: a North American machine commonly takes a 48 or 51 inch roll in 9840 feet, or a 64 and 67 inch roll in 7000 or 8000 feet, while metric machines take 1.22 m or 1.23 m by 3000 m and 1.62 m or 1.7 m by 2134 m. Those are the same rolls measured two ways. Once the width is fixed, the weight follows the crop: 8.33 gsm for hay, 10 gsm where the bale is dense or the wrap has to survive being dragged. Delivery runs about 15 days after deposit, with T/T and L/C both accepted.

Packing, Volume and Order Detail

Rolls ship on cardboard tubes, 16 or 12 to a pallet, giving 190 to 210 rolls in a 20 ft container and 490 to 510 in a 40 HQ. Minimum order is 2 tons, and capacity runs at 400 tons a month, so seasonal orders can be scheduled ahead rather than queued. For planning, work from bale count rather than roll count: at two to three turns per bale, a 3000 m roll gives a predictable number of bales once the bale diameter is fixed. Trade coverage of what growers are running, such as HortiDaily and FreshPlaza, is worth watching when specifying for a mixed farm.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know whether I need the 8.33 gsm or the 10 gsm roll?
Work from the bale rather than the baler. Dry hay that is wrapped and moved once suits the 8.33 gsm roll at 35 to 43 N. Dense silage, heavy straw or bales that are dragged or grabbed several times are better served by the 10 gsm roll at 43 to 55 N. Tell us the crop, the bale weight and how the bale is handled and we will confirm the weight.

Is the net UV stabilised, and does it matter for a bale?
Yes, the UV resistance is built into the yarn rather than applied as a surface coating, so it does not rub off as the roll turns. That matters most for rolls that sit on the baler through a working season and for bales left in daylight before they are collected.

Can you supply a width that is not in the list?
Widths run 1 m to 1.7 m as standard and lengths run 2000 m to 3000 m, with intermediate sizes made to requirement. Tell us the width and length in whichever unit your baler manual uses and we will confirm the equivalent size before the order is placed.

Tell us the baler width, the roll length in the unit your manual uses and the crop you bale, and we will confirm the weight, the roll and the packing that suit your order.
