Sunblock cloth is the dense end of the shade range, so it is chosen where the object is to cut light and heat rather than to filter: over a car or a shed it keeps the surface below from soaking up the afternoon, and over a plant bed it holds the worst of the sun off. Colour is made to order at the same time, which matters more here than on a light net because a dense cloth is visible: black reads as a working cover, beige sits with a building, and the wood-stripe border version is used where the cover faces a garden or a terrace. A knitted monofilament net covers the shading job where a lighter knit is enough.
